The Canadian Section is pleased to announce the first of what will be a semi-annual call for applications for the Section’s Early-Career Professional Award.  The purpose of the Early-Career Professional Development Award is to provide financial support to members of CSTWS to participate in professional development opportunities relevant to their profession or field of study. Professional development opportunities toward which the award funding may be applied include participation in conferences, workshops, courses, seminars, or other special training opportunities, which may occur virtually or as an in-person event. Funds allocated from the CSTWS Early-Career Professional Development Award may be used to cover costs needed to participate in these opportunities, including accommodations, travel, registration, associated written materials or equipment, etc.  There will be one award for the competition.


All applicants for the CSTWS Early-Career Professional Development Award must meet the following criteria: 

  • Have received a diploma or degree from a post-secondary institution no more than 3 years before applying (i.e., within 3 years of graduation); 
  • Be a current CSTWS member in good standing (or consider becoming a member here); 
  • Have provided all relevant application materials (completed application form, CV, references, and diploma/transcripts); and
  • Agree to submit proof of registration and attendance in the associated training opportunity, if selected for the award.
