CSTWS Student Travel Awards: Canadian Section Joint Conference

The application period for the CSTWS student travel awards is currently CLOSED.

Each year, the CSTWS helps provide funding opportunities for students to help offset the travel costs associated with attendance at our Annual Joint Conference and AGM. This year, the conference will be hosted with the BC Chapter in Victoria, BC from March 30th - April 1st. 

Deadline: January 20, 2023

Eligibility criteria include:

  1. Applicant did not receive Canadian Section Travel Award support within the last 12 months
  2. Applicant is a current member of the Canadian Section. Non-members can join today by clicking HERE.
  3. Applicant is a current student or recent graduate (degree received within the last 12 months)
  4. Applicant is the senior author and presenter of an accepted paper or poster.

*Although a student's paper/poster must be accepted for presentation by the Program Committee to receive an award, students should apply for the award prior to being notified by the Program Committee of abstract acceptance. 

Application Materials: Applicants should email the application materials to Garth Mowat (garth.mowat@gov.bc.ca). Please indicate "CS/BC Student Travel Award" in the subject field. 

Materials to be submitted include (in one PDF document):

  1. Completed application form signed by student and advisor (scanned); find application from HERE
  2. Statement outlining total, expected conference expenses and sources including those requested from the Canadian Section.
  3. Abstract of paper/poster that was submitted to the Program Committee.

 

 

CSTWS Student "Travel" Awards: TWS Annual Conference 

The application period for the TWS Annual Conference Student Travel Award is currently CLOSED.

The Canadian Section of The Wildlife Society (CSTWS) is pleased to provide a travel award for CSTWS student members presenting a paper or poster at The Wildlife Society’s 29th annual conference in Spokane, Washington on Nov. 6 – 10, 2022. Travel Awards are for up to $1000 but typically are $500/student. Successful applicants will be asked to provide a short article about their trip for the CSTWS Newsletter.

To be eligible, an individual’s paper/poster must be accepted for presentation by the Canadian Section’s Program Committee, but students should apply for the Travel Award in advance of receiving notification from the Program Committee. Applications and all supporting materials for student travel awards must be received by 1 September 2022.

  • Not have received Canadian Section Travel Award support within the last 12 months,
  • Be a member of the Canadian Section,
  • Be a current student or recent graduate (degree received within the last 12 months),
  • Be senior author and presenter of the accepted paper or poster,

Applicants must email the following to the CSTWS Awards Committee (cstws.awards@gmail.com), please indicate Travel Award in the subject field):

  1. Completed application form signed by student and advisor (signed and scanned);
  2. Applicable additional information about conference travel expenses; and
  3. Abstract of paper/poster that was submitted to the Program Committee.

The deadline for completed applications to be received is 1 September 2022. All applicants will be notified of the outcome by mid-September.
