The Canadian Section is pleased to announce a call for applications for the first of two Early Career Professional Awards for 2024. The purpose of the Early-Career Professional Development Award is to provide financial support to members of CSTWS to participate in professional development opportunities relevant to their profession or field of study. Professional development opportunities toward which the award funding may be applied include participation in conferences, workshops, courses, seminars, or other special training opportunities, which may occur virtually or as an in-person event. Funds allocated from the CSTWS Early-Career Professional Development Award may be used to cover costs needed to participate in these opportunities, including accommodations, travel, registration, associated written materials or equipment, etc. Note that fees associated with applying for or maintaining professional membership or standing (e.g., Provincial or TWS certification) are not eligible to be covered by this award.
All applicants for the CSTWS Early-Career Professional Development Award must meet the following criteria:
- Have received a diploma or degree from a post-secondary institution no more than 3 years before applying (i.e., within 3 years of graduation) and not currently pursuing a new Degree or Program of Study;
- Be a current CSTWS member in good standing (or consider becoming a member here);
- Have provided all relevant application materials (completed application form, CV, references, and diploma/transcripts); and
- If selected for the award, agree to submit proof of registration and attendance in the associated training opportunity.

The Deadline for application submission is 28 February 2024 for Professional Development activities completed by 30 August 2024. A call for an award for activities between September 1st and December 31st, 2024 is anticipated in June 2024.
